Stargate Continuum sollte nie einen Soundtrack bekommen, der von einem Orchester eingespielt wird. Doch nach dem grandiosen Erfolg von The Ark of Truth ließen es sich die Produzenten nicht nehmen, auch Continuum musikalisch mit einem Live-Orchester zu untermalen. Joel Goldsmith zeigte wieder einmal, dass er auch fernab von digitalen Samples ein Händchen für ein Sinfonie-Orchester hat.

Daraus entstand ein verträumter und majestätischer Score, der gekonnt die Stimmung des Films einfängt. Während The Ark of Truth musikalisch ein episches Glanzstück in der Stargate-Geschichte darstellt, hüllt sich Continuum in die dunkle Seite des Stargate-Universums und zeigt uns, dass sich Goldsmith nicht hinter der Bekanntheit seines berühmten Vaters Jerry Goldsmith (Poltergeist, Planet der Affen, Star Trek) verstecken muss.

Continuum funktioniert anders als The Ark of Truth, und zwar besteht der Soundtrack nicht gänzlich aus eigenständigen Tracks. Vielmehr ist die Platte ein Gesamtwerk, welches seine volle Größe aufzeigt, wenn man es am Stück auskostet. Mit 53 Minuten Spielzeit kann man sich sehr zufrieden schätzen, sich entspannt zurück lehnen und die einzelnen Szenen mit dem inneren Auge abspielen lassen.

Die Soundtrack-CD bietet 24 Tracks, die nicht chronologisch zur Handlung angeordnet sind, sondern in eine passende Reihenfolge mit mehr Abwechslung gebracht wurden.

Neben der Musik bietet der Soundtrack auch ein 24-seitiges Booklet mit etlichen Hintergrundinformationen. Martin Wood, der Regisseur des Films, erzählt über die Unterschiede zwischen TV-Serie und Film. Dazu beschreiben die Produzenten Robert C. Cooper und Brad Wright (ebenfalls Autor des Films) die Arbeit hinter den Kulissen und die Arbeit mit Joel Goldsmith. Auch der Komponist selbst plaudert über seine Kindheit und darüber, wie er zur Musik gekommen ist. Neben den Artikeln der Crew finden sich viele exklusive Fotos vom Set in den Artworks der CD wieder.
